Tip of the Week: What Changed With Google Calendar’s Update?

If you are a dedicated user of Google Calendar, you’ll have realized that it’s recently undergone a significant improvement. Google has pushed out an update that has really polished their calendar in terms of both visual appearance and functionality, which is something that you’ll really appreciate, especially if you are a G Suite user. How can you use this new version of Google Calendar for your business?

By visiting the web application at http://calendar.google.com, you’ll see that it still looks somewhat familiar. This is because it borrows its new look from the mobile app. First of all, notice the sleek new color palette, which is much more appealing than its previous version, as well as the new responsive look that can optimize its size based on the window of your browser or device.

The functionality of the app, however, is what you’re most interested in, so let’s take a closer look at the new updates. Your calendar can now show you specific information about wherever the events in your calendar will be held. Information that’s shown includes where the event is taking place, if there is any special equipment in the room, the name of the room, and other accommodations. You’ll be able to see all of this information while booking rooms for appointments or meetings, as well as any technology that you’ll be able to use to augment the presentation.

Even better is the ability to see all of the contact information for those attending a meeting, all by simply hovering over the entry. You’ll be able to customize the look of your calendar through rich text formatting and hyperlinks, as well as create more dynamic event invitations than you were previously capable of.

The most important new addition is that Google Calendar now features the ability to manage multiple calendars. You can use this to your advantage by looking at schedules side-by-side. Administrators and managers will find this particular feature helpful as they will be able to make schedules and delegate tasks in a more convenient manner.
